You’re Like A Poison In My Brain

Australia Part Three! :D

Competition day and the after-party.

We woke up at 4am Aussie time which is 2am Malaysian time to do our make up.

It was absolutely FREEZING and we were all in our cheer skirts. The first 2 hours or so was horrible! No matter what I did, my hands just REFUSED to stop being cold! It wasn’t until we started warming up for our routine (which took alot longer than usual) that I finally began to feel normal again. Lol.

But I distinctly remember us warming our hands under the dryer in the toilets at the sports centre when we first arrived! Lol.

149

Mel did make up for all of us with her left hand!

RESPECT!

150

Make up check!

151

Ivy and Wai Min.

152

Jun Kang fell asleep even before the competition started. Lol!

153

Everyone, meet my captain, Yee Ming! :D

154

Touching up Shana’s make up for her.

155

Kim Swee, Kim Ing and Siew Wai.

156

From L-R: Badrie, me, Hayden, Kim Swee, Kim Ing and Siew Wai.

157

+ Ivy who’s in between Hayden and I.

As you can see, a few of them are wearing more than one jacket coz yes, it was THAT cold in the morning!

159

163

Team pictures! :D

Mel is not in the second picture because it wouldn’t look good to send a team picture with an injured person in it to the sponsors. :(

164

Team talk before competition.

It looks like we’re praying, but really, Yee Ming is just talking to us. Lol.

166

Team manager! :D

167

Li Yen and Shana whom I think look very alike in this picture!

169

With Wai Min, our co-captain.

170

+ Mel.

A huge thank you to our sponsors! Air Asia X and Skin Food!

171

Layla cutting her nails before the spot check.

177

Kim and Kim! :D

We stayed at Kim and Matt’s house when we were there, as I mentioned before.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of/with Matt. :(

But the both of them are coming to Malaysia so you’ll get to see more pictures really soon! :D

Kim is a cheerleader with the Hornets from Acrobatic Fanatics.

183

Shiny Stars from Acrobatic Fanatics!

Cutest little kids EVER!

After seeing them, I can’t wait to have kids so I can shove them into cheerleading uniforms! :p

185

186

The little kids competing for Best Standing Trick.

190

194

Kim Ing, Kim Swee and Wai Min during the partner stunt competition.

THEY WON! :D

They actually did much cooler stuff than this but I didn’t manage to take any other pictures coz I was too busy watching/screaming for them. :p

196

Wen, Mel and Schan.

202

Wai Min and Ivy competing for Best Standing Trick.

203

204

Unfortunately, neither of them won. :(

Although I really thought that Wai Min should have won!

If I’m not mistaken, the girl second from left won.

208

With Darcy from Hornets, Acrobatic Fanatics.

209

Schan! :D :D

Thank you so so so much for coming to support us! Really appreciate it!

And it’s awesome that we’ve become closer coz of it too!

Can’t wait for you to get back! <3

5288_105776597716_584112716_2272873_6802876_n

Wen. :)

Seriously, hands down, best team manager ever! <3

5288_105776587716_584112716_2272871_2213383_n

How typical. :p

211

<3

I am so lucky. :)

212

OMG! YOU SEE HOW CUTE THEY ARE?!?!?

If I’m not mistaken, it’s Brandon, Noah/Kai, me, Jackson, Wen (on top), Noah/Kai and Mel.

I can’t remember which one is Kai and which one is Noah! :p

BUT HOW CUTE ARE THEY RIGHT?!??!?

ARGH! I WANTED TO TAKE ONE OF THEM HOME! DOESN’T MATTER WHICH ONE!

TOO CUTE!

189

Kai and Noah.

SO SO SO SO CUTE!

MALAYSIA #1! :D :D :D

When they announced “Team Malaysia” as champions, the rush/feeling was amazing! I can’t even begin to describe it!

213

With daddy and mummy. :)

I’m so glad they managed to make it to the competition. <3

Meant so much to me.

After-party! :D

Yes, unlike Malaysia, Australia has a party after the competition for all the cheerleaders to get to know each other and to just let their hair down and dance, eat, socialize, whatever!

I don’t have many pictures of the party coz my camera battery had died so these were actually grabbed off FB. :p

With Jason from the Chargers Cheerleaders!

CHARM cheerleaders + Jason.

I couldn’t be bothered to remove my make up, as you can see. :p

The after-party was TONS of fun! They had actually set up a makeshift dance floor and had a DJ playing music.

SO SO MUCH FUN! Spent the whole night dancing!

I was so sad to leave. :(

Competing in Australia was a really good experience and I’m so glad I was given the chance to compete.

It was tons of hard work, but it was really worth it!

I miss the whole team like CRAZY!

This post took me AGES to write because I just didn’t know how to put this day into words. This post does ZERO justice to what an amazing day that was.

From waking up at 4am in the morning to having a late dinner with mummy and daddy back in the city. It was a day I will never forget

I’m Holding On

Very, very, very long post up ahead! Be prepared!

This is what happens when you procrastinate on blogging! :p

But I’ll try and keep the words to a minimum!

Australia part two!

Days 3 & 4.

Day 3 was spent with my parents, shopping at the Elizabeth Street Mall.

060

Dailydress! :D

With a more interesting background. Are you guys sick of my mirror yet? Lol.

Long black cardigan: Forever 21                                                                                                   White top: Forever 21                                                                                                                                Pink scarf: Forever 21                                                                                                                                Jeans: Topshop                                                                                                                                            Shoes: Nose                                                                                                                                                Bag: Gucci

Lol! I just realized how almost my whole outfit was from Forever 21!

Btw, I absolutely love my scarf! I think it totally made my whole outfit! Lol. I got tons of compliments about my scarf that day too! Shop assistants kept asking me where I had gotten it from.

And yes, I bought something from Dotti. If you’re wondering what it was, it was a coat. For really cheap. :D Like, 20 AUD.

061

Walking along Elizabeth Street with daddy. :) <3

062

When I was there, they had this community project going on where they had pasted these HUGE cardboard pieces along the walls of Elizabeth Street and were asking passersby to scribble/write/draw on them.

If you can’t see the picture, it’s a stick figure of a cheerleaders that says “Team Malaysia @ Aus Cheer 09”

I love this picture btw!

063

You know you’re no longer in Asia when you’re eating noodles out of a box. Lol.

073

Mummy made me take this picture because my dad calls me Bubbles.

If you’re wondering why he calls me Bubbles, it’s coz I was a really bubbly baby. So, Bubbles. Lol.

075

Mummy and I freezing our butts off at Starbucks coz we wanted to use the internet. Lol.

Day 4.

Practicing our routine at the Sleeman Sports Centre in the morning and back to our home stay houses after that.

076

Warming up.

Stretching was a bit difficult coz it was cold and our bodies were not used to the temperature. So it took us AGES to warm up and getting our splits hurt more than usual.

082

083

My crippled friend! :D

Who says cripples can’t cheer eh? Lol.

085

Group picture!

Team Malaysia for Aus Cheer 2009! <3 I miss all of them so much!

086

A big thank you to our sponsors! Air Asia X and Skin Food.

089

Say hello to my crippled friend everyone! :D

090

I love this picture. :)

091

Hahaha! I don’t even remember taking this picture! But I think this picture is adorable!

Outside the sports centre, there were these gorgeously huge patches of greengreengrass for people to sit on. So guess where we went after practicing our routine to camwhore? Lol.

095

From L-R: Me, Wah Zhai, Siew Wai, Mel, Kim Swee, Wai Min and Jun Kang.

104

Mel rolling around on the grass. Lol.

111

Scorpion with a gorgeous background!

This picture was not easy to take because the ground wasn’t level, so my foot kept leaning to the right and I had to keep fighting it AND hold my scorpion long enough for someone to snap the picture! Lol.

113

Layla, Jun Kang and Kheen Ho.

116

I swear, I think I look like a guy here.

It’s either they look girly or I look like a guy.

I really hope it’s the former. Lol.

118

How awesome is this picture of Kim Swee? :D

119

Siew Wai’s back tuck + my awesome photography skills!

120

121

Quite possible my two favourite pictures of the whole trip!

Look at how blue the sky is!

And this is without ANY editing at all!

If you know me well, you’d know that I never edit my pictures coz I’m so lazy!

Credits to Kim Swee for these awesome pictures!

122

<3 my Mellie!

123

124

125

126

127

128

129

I love this series of pictures too!

Credits to Jun Kang and HIS awesome photography skills! Lol.

130

Discussing transportation arrangements.

132

From L–R: Me, Tiff (who has the most amazing body EVER), Mel and Darcy (who is an AMAZING dancer!)

134

Stunners girls. <3

135

And the Rebels boys! Haha!

136

This was taken outside Kim’s house.

Kim was our home stay.

And yes, her name was Kimberly too. Lol.

From L–R: Me, Yee Ming, Wen, Kim Ing and Ivy.

On the right of the picture, you can see Siew Wai and Kim Swee helping Mel tie her shoelaces. Lol.

Tying her shoelaces was quite possible the ONLY thing Mel couldn’t do with her left hand! I swear, that girl is a real trooper. She managed to do practically EVERYTHING left handed! Which includes doing the make up for the whole team and putting on eye liner by herself! She is so awesome! Seriously!

138

With Wen, the best team manager you could ask for!

140

And everyone, meet Snakey! :D

Snakey belongs to Matt (Kim’s fiancĂ©) and he was nice enough to take it out for Mel and I to play with.

We even held it!

When he asked if we wanted to hold it, I volunteered Mel to go first. Lol!

How evil am I right? I volunteer the cripple to hold the snake first.

141

142

143

Can you SEE how apprehensive I look? Lol!

144

But really, it wasn’t bad at all!

145

In fact, it felt quite nice coz it feels like it’s “holding” on to your arm.

And you’d think that snakes would be cold coz they’re reptiles, but they’re not at all! Snakey was really warm!

So cool! I’m so glad I held it! :D

148

Just before bed.

Yee Ming and Mel.

“This is possibly the sexiest picture anyone has ever taken of me in glasses” – Melissa Campbell.

LOL!

And that concludes part 2 of my Australia trip! Next up, part 3! Hopefully, tomorrow! :p

yasminahmad (1)

Yasmin Ahmad, director of famed local movie Sepet (amongst many others) and the many PETRONAS ads that we can never forget, passed away yesterday at 11.25pm due to a brain hemorrhage. She was 51 years old.

Lately, it seems that God is taking too many talented people back home to be with Him.

Maybe it’s His way of telling us that it’s time we started appreciating the talents of these people and what they have given to us more.

If you haven’t thought about it, I think the similarities of Yasmin Ahmad’s and Michael Jackson’s death are eerily similar.

Both of them are extremely talented. Alot of their works centered around racial prejudice and segregation and their battle to beat it. Michael Jackson died on the 25th of June, Yasmin Ahmad died on the 25th of July. They both died of heart related issues.

Eerie, no?

Whatever it is, Malaysia has lost one of its treasures. Yasmin Ahmad will always be remembered and she has truly left behind a legacy of amazing works.

Thank you for reminding us what being Malaysian truly means.

RIP Yasmin Ahmad.

Below are my three favourite ads directed by her. If you haven’t seen them already, I hope you enjoy them and draw inspiration from them as much as I do.

This is probably my favourite ad by her. The message is just SO strong and she really managed to capture the innocence of children. And the little boy’s expression when the girl says that he’s her boyfriend! PRICELESS!

Okay, if you’re Malaysian and you’re not laughing, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?!? If you’re not Malaysian and you’re not laughing, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU TOO?!?

This video makes me cry everytime I watch it. This is without a doubt, her best ad, in my opinion. It is truly, beautiful.

Maybe because it’s just a little bit personal too.

Yasmin, you and your works are going to be missed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see, I separated this post into three different parts because I think they have absolutely nothing to do with each other and I wanted you to see each as an individual post.

I hope you enjoyed the Australia pictures!

I hope you enjoy shopping at Peaches & Pixies!

And I hope you’ve enjoyed watching those little parts of Yasmin Ahmad! :)
